Snow Train

Although the Snow Train from Rail Europe is sadly not being offered for the 09/10 season, you can still take Eurostar's Snow Train. Travelling by train has many advantages over flying. Note though that you can only pick it up in the UK in either London or Kent, so if you don’t live in the south east it may not be for you.

But if the departure locations work, the snow train has some real pluses. Firstly, it delivers you to Bourg St Maurice, our local major town – so your transfer time to the chalet is minimal (about 30mins). Taxis are readily available at the station, and it costs around €50 to get to the chalet. Also, depending on when you arrive, we may even be able to pick you up ourselves (but this cannot be guaranteed)

Secondly, the train is greener than flying, which is good for us all. And because everyone in the mountains is keen to preserve this wonderful environment for ourselves and future generations, we’re keen to encourage our customers to travel by train.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, most trains are an overnight service from the UK on a Friday night, arriving in the Alps early on Saturday morning. They then leave late in the evening the following Saturday. All this means, when combined with the short transfer time, you get to ski or board for 8 days (rather than 6 if you fly). And that’s why you’re coming, right?

Do note, it tends to get booked up very early. Also, the prices tend not to be as competitive as flights - but this does need to be balanced against the fact that you get more days skiing!

[Put London St Pancras as your departure station, and Bourg St Maurice as your destination, to get access to timetables, prices and availability]

Please note that if you take the snow train, we cannot guarantee you will able to access your room on arrival, as it may still be occupied. Likewise, you may not be able to keep your room until your return from skiing on your departure Saturday. However, we will definitely have somewhere to store all your bags, as well as somewhere to get changed, and we’ll do our best to give you access to a bath/shower as well (but we cannot guarantee this).
