Transfers & Car Hire

If you choose to fly to the Alps, you’ll also need a transfer from the airport to the chalet. There are a variety of different companies offering specific services, and you can of course also get a taxi from the airport (although you’ll wince at the cost). Or you could hire a car from the airport for the duration of your holiday.

Transfer Services
Cheapest transfers are typically from Chambery, as it’s our closest major airport, next cheapest is Geneva, followed by Lyon, and finally Grenoble. Lyon tends to be the busiest airport, Chambery, and Grenoble the quietest. There are other airports you can fly to (eg Turin and St Etienne) but these four tend to be the best bet for most.

We have chosen to partner with a local transfer firm, Coolbus, that is based in our local town, Bourg St Maurice. We are able to book these transfers direct for our customers, thus making the whole process straightforward and painless. The cost of transfers varies dependent upon how many are in your party, and your destination airport. Here are example prices, but please contact us for an accurate quote.

Car Hire
There are hundreds of options for car hire, so it is impossible to offer a comprehensive guide here. The key point to note is that for parties of 3 or more, depending upon your arrival airport, it can sometimes prove cheaper to hire cars than use a transfer service, especially if a car hire firm is offering special deals.

There are too many car firms to recommend – however, whenever we have had to hire a car in France from the UK, we have always found
www.auto-europe.co.uk to be both efficient and competitively priced.

We have free parking for 2-3 cars at Chalet Epicea (and there is ample parking nearby), and parking for 3-4 cars at Chalet Le Passeu. If more spaces are required, we will point you in the direction of extra parking, and we will ensure there is somewhere to park your car for unloading and loading on your arrival and departure days.

Should you choose to hire a car, we would advise you also
visit our driving page, for advice and links on driving in France and in the Alps.
